Hi, I’m Mila

I can still vividly picture the sunlight hitting the dust motes of flour in my mother’s small, yellow kitchen. That is where my story begins—not in a culinary school, but perched on a high stool, watching my mother transform simple ingredients into magic. My fondest childhood memory involves a heavy, chipped ceramic bowl that my mother and I shared specifically for making Sunday pancakes. I was barely tall enough to reach the counter, but I would insist on whisking the batter until my arms ached. Those mornings, filled with the scent of vanilla and sizzling butter, taught me that cooking wasn’t just a chore; it was the way our family showed love.

However, as I grew up, “real life” started to get in the way. Building a career and managing the daily hustle of adulthood meant that my kitchen became more of a storage space than a creative studio. For years, I relied on takeout menus and quick fixes, losing that special connection I once had with food. It wasn’t until life forced me to slow down a few years ago that I dusted off my old recipe cards. I started cooking not because I had to, but because I needed the stress relief. Chopping vegetables became my meditation, and baking became my joy again.

Top Recipe List was born out of a simple practical need. I started bringing my kitchen experiments—cookies, casseroles, and breads—to my friends and coworkers. When they began asking for the recipes, I realized I couldn’t keep writing them on sticky notes forever. What started as my messy digital diary with blurry photos has grown into this community. I listened to what you needed: recipes that don’t require fancy equipment or ingredients you can’t pronounce.

I want to be clear: I am a home cook, just like you. I don’t wear a chef’s coat, and I definitely still set off the smoke detector occasionally when I’m broiling chicken! My promise is that I make all the mistakes here in my kitchen first—burning the toast, over-salting the soup—so that by the time a recipe reaches your screen, it is foolproof. Thank you for trusting me with your dinner plans.

Warmly,
Mila
